Wildlife and Belize Birdwatching
Belize Zoo & Monkey Bay Wildlife Sanctuary Birding Tour
The coastal pine savannahs and riparian hardwood forest blends in this area, giving way to a mix of habitats. This is the perfect spot to look for species such as Gray-throated Chat, White-bellied Emerald, Canivet’s Emerald and Golden-hooded Tanager.
The pine specialties you can spot around here include, Yellow-headed Parrot, Yellow-lored Parrot (a Yucatan endemic), Buff-bellied Hummingbird and Gray-collared Becard. Ladder-backed Woodpecker and Yucatan Woodpecker are also in the area. Along the creeks, Russet-naped Wood-Rail and Barred Antshrike call almost all day. Hiding in the dense Bamboo thickets, Rufous-breasted Spinetail and Blue Seedeater find refuge.
Along the dense forest closer to the Sibun River, we can find Gray-headed Tanager, Great Antshrike, Rufous-tailed Jacamar and Yellow-tailed Orioles. It’s an impressive mix of birds which are much harder to see elsewhere.
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ARE INCLUDED IN PRICE.
