Knowledgeable, experienced local guides – our guides have no less than ten years experience in the profession and in the Tourism Industry. They are educated in areas such as Archaeology, Natural History, Ornithology, Belizean History, Ecology and Geology. They are really passionate about their job and combine their passion with their knowledge to give guests a lifetime experience.
Homemade Belizean lunches – We provide homemade Belizean lunches that are freshly prepared for guests on tour. We cater to vegetarians, vegans and other restricted diets. Our Standard tour lunch includes rice, vegetables, boneless chicken, dessert and a refreshing drink. Our comfort (exclusive) tour lunch includes rice, boneless chicken, dessert, extra snacks, fruits, refreshing drinks or sodas and a few beers (optional). All lunches are packed in a backpack that we provide for our guests. These Mayawalk backpacks were specially designed to hold the lunches in an insulated pocket at the bottom that leaves the top compartment free for water, helmets, and other items needed on the tour.
Professional office staff – Our staff is properly trained in customer service and problem solving. They are also well educated and have many years experience in Tourism and related fields.

Equipment – We have all necessary gears for our tours; these include headlamps, spotlights, helmets, rucksack, dry bags (all sizes), backpack, first aid and life jackets. These are all upgraded top of the line equipments.
Tours – Our tours are usually the first among all other companies to depart from San Ignacio and arrive at our tour destination. Our Actun Tunichil Muknal tour is scheduled to depart at 7:30am; this makes us the first company in the jungle and in the cave. Our Tikal tour departs at 6:30 am; this makes it easier and quicker to get through the border and to get to the site early. We do take large groups.

Further training is provided to our guides on how to do properly conduct professional presentations of information and to comply with our sustainable travel guidelines.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
In an effort to reduce paper usage in the office, most of our documents are sent through emails and our paper works are automated. We also store and reuse our batteries that are used on the daily tours.

Barzakh Falah – This is a sustainable children home soon be opened in Georgeville by Mr. & Mrs. Jaime Marin. This is a sustainable farm community for children and at – risk youth. We currently contributing to the establishment of this needed children home.
St. Barnabas Elementary School – This elementary school, located in the Central Farm area of the Cayo District, is working hard to educate, feed and morally support the students that are living in poverty. Mayawalk and family have started a feeding program for the school in which we continuously provide food for these children. We also provide school supplies and transportation for educational trips.
Octavio Waight Center – This is a home that provides the elderly with an environment that enhances dignity, self-esteem, and physical and mental well being. There are currently twenty seven individuals in this institution. Mayawalk provides the centre with their essentials.
Christmas Smiles - Each year, Mayawalk Tours hosts the Christmas Smiles event held in front of our main office in which we give gifts to little children, ages up to 12 and to accompanying parents. This event also involves the issuing of gifts to senior citizens of the Octavio Waight ‘Old Folks’ Center
Safety and Insurance
First Aid – All our guides are certified first aiders and carry with them, at all times, a fully equipped first aid kit. They are well trained to perform the provision of initial care of an injury.
Rescue Experts and Professional Rescue Equipment – Our guides are certified by the Belize Tourism Training Unit (BTIA), Belize Department of Archaeology and the United States National Cave Rescue Commission in Cave Recue. They are also trained by the BTIA in performing water rescue. We are the only tour operator company that has rescue proper rescue equipment. Our top of the line equipment can be used in rescue situations such as mountain climbing, caving, flooding and river rescue. Our rescue stock includes: rescue jackets, seat harness, chest harness, descenders, croll and/or ascenders, carabiners, and ropes of various kinds.
Equipped vehicles and safe drivers – All our vehicles are equipped with fully packed first aid kit, a fire extinguisher and vehicle repair and emergency kits (air jack, tools kit, air compressor, tire repair kit, jumper cable…). These vehicles are well maintained and are inspected for water, oil, safety equipment and damages/malfunctions every morning before our tours depart. We only hire very experienced, safe and licensed drivers (licensed for no less than ten years) that are properly screened by us.
Safety Rules – All our guides and customers must comply with our safety rules. These safety rules protect our guides, customers and our environment.
Insurance - We are insured under the Public Liability for Tour Operator Policy: PBLTO/0001539. Under this policy, the corporation will indemnify the Insured against all sums, which the Insured shall become legally liable to pay as damage in respect of
Accidental bodily injury (including death or disease) to any person
Accidental loss of or damage to property happening in connection with the business and occurring during the period of insurance.

IN RESPECT of occurrence to which the policy applies, the Corporation also pays:
Reasonable legal costs recoverable by any claimant from Insured incurred in and recoverable in the Geographical Area and
Costs and expenses incurred with the written consent of the Corporation
In the event of the death of the Insured, the corporation will in respect of the liability incurred by the Insured indemnity the Insured’s legal personal representatives in the terms of and subject to the limitations of this policy provided that such representatives shall as though they were then insured observe fulfill and be subject to terms, conditions and expectations of this policy insofar as they can apply.
British Standard BS 8848 – We are the only tour operator company that meets the standard of the BS 8848 British Standard which is a specification by many student and travel groups for adventures outside the UK. BS 8848 provides a specification for organizing and managing visits, fieldwork, expeditions, and adventurous activities, outside the United Kingdom. BS 8848 covers the preparation and execution of adventurous activities abroad so that the level of risk included is reasonable and acceptable. It will prepare participants for the risks involved, and the actions and behaviour required to keep risks down to acceptable levels.
National Speleogical Society (NSS) – We are the members of the NSS and we comply with their cave rules and safety rules. The National Speleological Society does more than any other organization to study, explore, and conserve cave and karst resources; protect access to caves; encourage responsible management of caves and their unique environments; and promote responsible caving.
