From San Ignacio, we set off at 9am in our canoes on our journey up the Macal river. Along the way we view and identify different species of birds, trees and enjoy the sight of Belize’s famous green iguanas as they lay atop the highest trees that grow on the river bank.
We stop at the many swimming spots on the river bank and have a hearty healthy lunch break along the way. We have an optional stop at the Chaa Creek Resort to visit the Blue Morpho Butterfly Farm, Medicine Trail, Natural History Museum. We then canoe our way down the Macal River back to San Ignacio, arriving at 4:30pm.
